3D Printing for Digital Artists is a presentation that I offer, on-site at your school/studio, direct to your students/employees. This short class is perfect for artists who have a basic understanding of 3D modeling and want to learn about the latest in 3D printing trends and technology. I talk about my journey into 3D printing as well as applications in various industries including product design, medicine, toys, collectibles, fashion, jewelry and entertainment.

The workshop format allows for targeted discussions/learning based on class interest, as well as several short workflow demos and exercises in addition to a class project.

Aiman Akhtar is a 3D Artist who specializes in stylized character development for animation and 3D print design. After 6 years of working at various commercial studios in Chicago for top brand clients such as Harley-Davidson and Hotels.com, he left to pursue a career in entertainment design in Los Angeles and has since worked for companies including Alliance Studios, Method Studios and Nickelodeon.
In addition, Aiman is the resident 3D print expert at 3D World Magazine where he writes editorial stories and tutorials on his projects as well as the 3D printing industry. In 2015 he’s tackled 3d printing for collectible toys, products, jewelry, wearables, and even a fully 3d printed costume.
Aiman is currently working at Stoopid Buddy Studios on 3D printed stop-motion animation puppets for Supermansion, as well as running his own character development/3D print company, 3D Smiths, which specializes in transforming 2D creations into 3D sculptures.
